DH2i Adds Support for Oracle Database on Windows

DH2i Company, a provider of Microsoft Windows Server application virtualization and management solutions, has announced the general availability of DxEnterprise version 16 (v16).

The updated release of DH2i’s container virtualization and management software includes added support for Oracle Database on Windows, enabling Oracle users to create stateful containers for new and existing Oracle databases using the Vhost container technology of DxEnterprise.

With these containers, the company says, Oracle databases can be moved from any Windows Server host to any other Windows Server host, allowing Oracle customers to improve the management of their Oracle environments.

The DH2i container technology is intended to provide Oracle DB professionals with an infrastructure-agnostic solution that enables the stacking of application instances to eliminate OS and VM sprawl, while also helping to achieve high availability and disaster recovery, a reduction in operating systems to manage, and licensing savings.

According to DH2i, version 16 gives customer a unified solution for Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows File Shares and application services—without the need for Windows Server Failover Clustering or Active Directory services.
