Data Dynamics Updates Software Suite for Managing Data Assets Across the Information Lifecycle

Data Dynamics, Inc., a provider of storage management solutions for unstructured data, has introduced new software modules as part of the StorageX platform.

StorageX 7.8 includes enhanced migration capabilities as well as new data protection capabilities to create what the vendor describes as a unified data management suite that helps customers handle large volumes of information across on-premises and public cloud storage infrastructures while also mitigating the risk of security breaches.

The product updates also include an SDK to provide customers and partners the ability to integrate the StorageX policy-based engine into enterprise applications to automate and streamline data mobility operations from creation to archiving so that business owners can manage their critical information assets across the business lifecycle.

According to Cuong Le, vice president of marketing, Data Dynamics, line of business owners increasingly require ways to intelligently manage their critical information assets from cradle to grave while taking advantage of cloud infrastructures. By integrating the StorageX policy engine into their enterprise applications, he notes, organizations can manage their applications for data portability, business efficiencies, and better quality of service.

The new modules include the StorageX SDK which integrates the policy engine into enterprise applications to enable line of business owners to intelligently analyze, discover, optimize and manage their data and seamlessly provision to the appropriate storage resource; the StorageX Data Protection Module which delivers heterogeneous replication across SMB and NFS file storage resources;  the StorageX DFS Protection Suite which includes Data Protection, Disaster Recovery and Namespace Backup Module for DFS environments which monitors availability of file storage resources and alerts when outages occur; and the StorageX Data Insight Analytics and Optimization which  collects file metadata information and statistics and provides insights on data type, data lifecycle and access control exposures.

In addition, a new Policy Simulation Mode simulates the run of a Data Movement Policy to scan the file system and gather key statistics on what would happen during a data migration, archive, copy or incremental copy run.
