Discover the Power of DBaaS with Nutanix

Since the rise of Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS), organizations have embraced the speed and automation it delivers—especially in public cloud environments. But when it comes to on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud scenarios, the reality is far more challenging.

IT teams are forced to battle with overwhelming complexity in database management, painful data latency and performance bottlenecks, mounting security and compliance risks, runaway costs, unreliable failover mechanisms, limited automation, and the ever-present threat of vendor lock-in. These hurdles have kept many enterprises from achieving the agility and scale they expected.

DBTA recently held a webinar, Unlocking the Power of Database-as-a-Service Anywhere: Automating DBaaS Across On-Premises and Hybrid Multi-Cloud, with Ahmad Elayat,
Sr. director of product management, database services at Nutanix and Cesar Rojas,
Sr. product marketing manager at Nutanix, who discussed how Nutanix Database Service (NDB) removes roadblocks by delivering true DBaaS simplicity across hybrid multi-cloud environments.

Databases are complex and difficult to manage, Elayat and Rojas explained. Developers are being slowed down, DBAs and Ops teams are overwhelmed, and it’s become too costly to manage large database fleets.

Public cloud DBaaS solutions have been key to automating the entire database lifecycle but in on-premises environments, complexity is exacerbated by too many choices.

Nutanix Database Service (NDB) can help automate the database lifecycle in hybrid multi-cloud environments, Elayat and Rojas said. NDB is part of the broader Nutanix platform. Traditional DB provisioning can take weeks, but NBD can provision databases within minutes. The solution offers support for leading databases including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL.

The platform offers:

  • Acceleration: Enable developer self-service with automated database provisioning in minutes versus weeks.
  • Automation and efficiency: Eliminate the mundane heavy lifting of managing the database fleet.
  • TCO reduction: Deliver IT infrastructure savings without compromising performance.
