Dismantling Data Silos to Unlock the Full Power of Self-Service Analytics

Data silos remain one of the biggest barriers to analytics, AI, and true self-service. Despite continued investment in cloud platforms and modern data stacks, many organizations still struggle to connect data, standardize access, and make trusted information easily available across teams.

Industry research shows just how persistent the problem remains. A recent survey found that 68% of organizations still cite data silos as a top challenge. And the impact is significant: users spend more time searching for and validating data instead of generating valuable insights.

DBTA recently held a roundtable webinar, Breaking Data Silos: Tools and Strategies for Self-Service Success, with industry experts to explore how leading organizations are breaking down silos and building scalable self-service ecosystems.

According to Irem Radzik, senior director of product marketing at Reltio, Reltio helps enterprises move from fragmented data access to trusted, governed, self-service-ready context for analytics and AI. Reltio provides the bridge between legacy systems that run the enterprise today and the agentic workflows that are reshaping it. The company and its solutions turn fragmented unreliable data into a trusted system of context, so humans, operational systems, and AI agents can act with confidence.

Marija Zutic, senior product manager, data intelligence at insightsoftware, said, while BI tools excel at visualizing and analyzing data, they traditionally have not allowed users to directly input changes. With Write Back, BI tools are transformed from passive tools to active platforms for planning, collaboration, and data exploration.

insightsoftware delivers all a users’ BI needs under one roof, Zutic explained. Power ON adds planning capabilities directly to Power BI. You get AI-powered insights, real-time data updates, and the Excel experience your teams already know.

There is a gap between data potential and reality, John Macpherson, account executive – enterprise at Fivetran, explained. Teams expect real-time insights, AI-powered decisions, self-service analytics, and innovation at speed. But in reality, they experience fragmented data, manual building and maintaining, inconsistent governance. And slow, brittle systems.

Data holds the key… but it’s scattered across silos, in differing formats and volumes, Macpherson noted.

With Fivetran, users can move reliable, high-quality data, he explained. Better data access drives better data outcomes. Fivetran’s approach allows users to move all their data from their data systems, transform the data into enriched and governed tables, and activate the data into any applications or workflows.
