Dremio Cloud Brings Accelerated Data Value to Microsoft Azure

Dremio, the easy and open data lakehouse, is unveiling the public preview of Dremio Cloud—an enabler of rapid and scalable query performance for analytics workloads—for Microsoft Azure. The SaaS solution, built on Apache Arrow’s columnar foundation, combines self-service analytics with data warehouse functionality and data lake agility to drive data value and reduce overall costs.

Now released for Azure, Dremio Cloud accelerates performance without draining financial resources. Its native columnar cloud chase (C3) empowers unparalleled throughput and rapid response times on Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), according to Dremio.

Paired with Dremio’s analytic query accelerator, dubbed Reflections, the solution can deliver sub-second response times for BI workloads.

"Dremio Cloud for Microsoft Azure is the service we have been looking for. It provides us with an easy-to-use environment for self-service analytics, helping us accelerate time to market, whilst keeping cost under control,” said Tian de Klerk, IT business intelligence at S&P Global.

Dremio Cloud also offers the following capabilities:

  • Seamless federated data access across organization environments, both in Azure and on-prem
  • A semantic layer across all data, combining data in cloud data lakes and existing RDBMSs with modern table formats like Iceberg and Delta Lake
  • Eliminate data movement and reduce dependency on complex ETL processes
  • Next-generation lakehouse catalog with Git for Data functionality for simplistic data product building, managing, and sharing
  • Software development best practices for versioning, optimizing data accuracy and consistency
  • Create zero-copy clowns of production data in seconds development, testing, data science, experimentation, and more
  • Lakehouse versioning for workload isolation, transactional consistency, governance, collaboration, reproducibility, and easy recovery

"Dremio Cloud for Microsoft Azure is a game-changer for organizations seeking self-service analytics with flexibility in a SaaS environment,” said Roger Frey, vice president of alliances at Dremio. “It provides SQL query performance coupled with unified data access and robust lakehouse management functionality. This empowers companies to efficiently unlock the value of their data, offering faster time to insights and cost-effective solutions. We're thrilled to bring Dremio Cloud to Azure, enabling our customers to experience the future of data management.”

With an expansive semantic layer that ensures data comprehension for all users, as well as rapid data access extension, Dremio Cloud delivers accelerated value while simplifying data management and governance in lakehouse environments—ultimately decreasing costs.

"At Microsoft, we are committed to delivering powerful solutions that help our customers maximize the value from their data,” said Aung Oo, partner, general manager of Azure storage engineering at Microsoft. “Dremio Cloud for Microsoft Azure seamlessly integrates with our ecosystem, providing organizations with the freedom to harness their data in the way that suits them best. This collaboration marks a significant step toward achieving robust performance and affordability for analytical workloads via an open data architecture.”
