Elevate Real-Time Data and Analytics with Fivetran and Qlik

Boosting real-time data and analytics capabilities is a top priority for business leaders looking to gain competitive advantage through faster insights and decision-making. However, many organizations are still saddled with legacy data warehouses, data silos, and latency-heavy pipelines that can't keep up with today's demands.

The rise of events-driven and streaming-first architectures, data ingestion and streaming engines, in-memory databases and modern OLAP engines, and modern data integration and analytics tools can process and act on information the moment it's generated.

DBTA recently held a webinar, Boosting Your Real-Time Data and Analytics Capabilities, with David Hrncir, lead partner sales engineer at Fivetran and Clive Bearman, senior director product marketing at Qlik, who discussed key technologies and best practices paving the road forward.

In 2024, the global volume of data created, captured, copied, and consumed was 149 zettabytes and estimates project by end of 2025, that volume will reach 181 zettabytes, according to Statista, Hrncir noted.

And requests from business teams continue to grow as companies are grappling with legacy systems and the burdensome costs that come from maintaining them.

According to Gartner, Hrncir said, bad data costs organizations $13 million a year.

Fivetran offers a customizable platform that complements any stack, he explained. End-to-end security protects data and the company’s reputation. Fivetran’s approach is easy to use and performant.

Bearman recommended 5 tips for boosting real-time data and analytics capabilities. This includes:

  1. Use the right data integration method for the job
  2. Use data quality throughout the entire data pipeline from origination to consumption
  3. The lakehouse is more than Iceberg ingestion
  4. Provide consumers with trusted data assets via a data product catalog and marketplace
  5. “AI-ready data” is not just for machine learning
