Endeca Announces Partnerships with Informatica and SAP Business Objects

Endeca Technologies, Inc., a search applications software company, announced that it will OEM PowerCenter and PowerExchange from Informatica Corporation, and that it has expanded its relationship with SAP Business Objects. Endeca will integrate Informatica's PowerCenter and PowerExchange with its Information Access Platform for improved enterprise search, and will integrate SAP Business Object's Xcelsius software and Intelligent Search software for faster and easier deployment of search applications and query federation inside the enterprise.

The Informatica partnership allows Endeca customers to leverage industry-standard software for integrating data to feed a search application. For customers who already have Informatica deployed, they can use skills they already have in-house. For customers who do not, they can tap the large number of consultants already familiar with Informatica's products. In all cases, Endeca's rich feature set around semi-structured content acquisition and enrichment can be combined with Informatica's existing offerings, and as a result, the time and costs associated with deploying Endeca's search applications are reduced.

Integrating SAP Business Object's Xcelsius dashboards, visualization software, and Intelligent Search with the Endeca platform provides an intuitive way for business analysts to create data visualizations within search applications. This will provide employees with insight to make more effective business decisions, even when working with large volumes of complex information. This straight-forward approach to building analytics-intensive search applications means improved efficiency for IT organizations and reduced deployment time, leading to increased productivity and reduced costs across the value chain. Rather than relying on IT, or teams of analysts to produce static reports, customers can extend the value of existing IT investments with interactive visualization. They gain access to highly customizable and interactive views at any intersection in the data, providing a holistic understanding of the context around a particular decision.

"The OEM partnership with Informatica will help customers pull data out of numerous sources, transform it, and load it into the Endeca MDEX engine for search analysis. This will include semi-structured textual information such as is found in product lifecycle management systems and warranty claims systems," Paul Sonderegger, chief strategist for Endeca, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "Regarding the SAP Business Objects partnership, we are combining dashboard reporting with a guided navigation experience to enable customers to more easily develop custom-tailored search applications."
