Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is announcing the next generation of its fault-tolerant HPE Nonstop Compute solutions engineered with advancements in flexibility and reliability. These additions, the entry-class HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and flagship HPE Nonstop Compute NS9 X5, enable customers to more rapidly process transactions while scaling their business—ideal for operations such as payment processing, fraud detection, and smart manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Customers have leveraged HPE Nonstop for over 50 years, necessary for companies requiring 24x7 uptime. Delivering more processing power with enhancements in memory, system-interconnect bandwidth, and networking performance, HPE’s fault-tolerant architecture and full-stack offerings enable enterprises to adapt to the modern needs of business with uptimes that are 99.999% or 99.9999%.
The latest additions to HPE’s seamless, powerful, and trusted portfolio utilize Intel Xeon processors, offering up to 15% more performance capacity. Doubling the memory capacity for both HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5—offering up to 8 TB—customers benefit from increased productivity with industry-standard hardware.
“HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5 are our next-generation of fault-tolerant solutions and are categorized by IDC as an AL4 server that reaches the highest levels of availability,” explained Casey Taylor, general manager, HPE Nonstop at HPE. “The reliability we’re able to achieve is why our customers rely on us to power their most mission-critical operations.”
“In fact, one of our auto manufacturing customers has been using HPE’s fault-tolerant systems for more than 35 years without any unplanned downtime. With the launch of HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5, we are reinforcing our commitment to deliver an architecture designed for fault-tolerance and high performance so that our customers can scale their businesses and innovate with confidence,” Taylor continued.
Delving into each of the new solutions more specifically, HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5 are equipped with unique specifications to address key business needs.
For example, the flagship HPE Nonstop Compute NS9 X5—which is available with Intel Xeon Gold 6400 series processors—offers 2.5x more networking bandwidth. It can also be clustered with the previous two iterations of HPE Nonstop Compute solutions, enabling smooth, seamless migrations without risking downtime.
Both HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5 deliver improved fiber channel connectivity, which for the financial services vertical, enables these companies to process more transactions per second.
“These solutions are quite popular with payments and financial services customers for its reliability,” noted Taylor. “In fact, more than 80% of the credit card transactions processed within the United States are powered by HPE Nonstop. Additionally, 6 of the top 10 full-service global retail banks also use HPE Nonstop to process retail cards, high-volume payments, and core banking capabilities.”
Regarding safety and security, HPE is pairing this release with an operating system update that adds support for multi-factor authentication (MFA), aiding organizations as they face pressure to comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the SOC 2 auditing procedure. Furthermore, these compute solutions are supported by specialized HPE Services provided by expert HPE Nonstop Compute engineers, tasked with helping customers migrate complex mission critical workloads.
“It’s been very exciting to see the enthusiasm our customers, partners, and team members have shown around these new full-stack solutions,” said Taylor. “The new generation systems bring innovation and performance upgrades to our customers, while remaining true to the HPE Nonstop fundamentals of scalability, performance, and ultimate availability. This is why our customers all over the world continue to tell us that these systems help them sleep at night.”
