In this clip from Data Summit 2026, Michael Vasicek, Airo Digital Labs SVP of sales and AI enablement, asks should information professionals believe the hype that they will all be reporting to AI agents one day soon, or that their jobs will disappear and be replaced by AI reporting to AI reporting to AI?
Not likely, he predicts, but dramatically increased interaction with AI agents in most areas of their work is coming—including giving them tasks and receiving tasks from them as well as monitoring, managing, and correcting them and learning to use them effectively.
“The operating model is going to change,” Vasicek said. “There will never be AI agents up to one person.”
The next generation operating model will include fewer levels, he explained, and every single person will interact with AI agents. These agents will give you tasks, expect tasks from you, will be assigned to you for maintenance of agentic drift, and agents will be your responsibility for results audit.
The annual Data Summit conference returned to Boston, May 6-7, 2026, with pre-conference workshops on May 5.
