Jive Signs Agreement With SAP to Deliver Social Business Intelligence for the Enterprise

Jive, a technology vendor focused on social business software has recently announced an OEM agreement with SAP Business Objects, through which it will deliver community analytics that combine its Social Business Software (SBS) platform together with SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand offerings

The global shift toward social business is dramatically changing how companies collaborate internally and engage with customers and partners externally. As a result, social business initiatives are generating new data streams that offer critical competitive advantages. With this agreement, businesses will have clear visibility into the behaviors and content that represents the value of social communities. The agreement will also leverage SAP's software-as-a-service (SaaS) business intelligence infrastructure, resulting in a complete cloud-based analytics and reporting solution for Jive customers. Jive customers will benefit from a quick-to-deploy, secure, stable and flexible analytics offering that simplifies data access and ongoing data management.

With SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand delivered as part of the Jive SBS platform, Jive customers will be able to share, discuss and collaborate around business data more effectively, enabling smarter decision-making by a larger number of business users. Christopher Morace, senior vice president of products, Jive Software, tells 5 Minute Briefing that "the business intelligence capabilities of SAP Business Objects will be brought to all aspects of the Jive SBS platform including employee engagement, customer support, sales and marketing, and innovation. This will be true whether they are using these tools inside or outside of the firewall." Mani Gill, vice president of On-Demand for SAP Business Objects also indicates that "the SAP Business Objects On-Demand offering is being embedded into the Jive platform and will only require single-sign on to the Jive software. From there Jive users will be able to make calls to the Business Objects features without ever leaving their application."

Highlights of the new offering include integration of SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand with Jive SBS to provide a comprehensive community analytics capability, an on-demand version of SAP BusinessObjects Explorer software, enabling business users to search and navigate data from across their social network, and the ability to share, discuss and collaborate on business data generated by employee and public communities.
