Kyndryl Introduces New Cloud Native Services to Streamline Digital Modernization

Kyndryl, a provider of IT infrastructure services, is launching Kyndryl Cloud Native Services to enhance cloud application modernization for its customers. By leveraging both Kyndryl’s hyperscaler partnerships and its well-architected framework, the company can streamline digital modernization for those looking to transform in the midst of complexities, tech silos, and IT skills shortages.

“We’ve seen companies increase their use of cloud over the last few years but have had barriers to adoption—whether it’s the complexities of hybrid, multi-cloud landscapes, or lack of skills and expertise to manage their IT estates,” said Harish Grama, Kyndryl cloud global practice leader. “These new services are a direct outcome of Kyndryl’s ongoing journey to expand our innovation and offerings through strategic partnerships and new technology, which we have not been able to do before.”

Combating the disparate and complicated landscape of many organizations, Kyndryl’s array of services drive cloud adoption through an expansive framework that leverages existing cloud tools. Code assets, workflows, expertise, and end-to-end lifecycle services, including automated backup, patching, KPI monitoring, security, alerting, and incident management make up the aforementioned framework, which is further aligned with the cloud adoption frameworks of Kyndryl’s strategic hyperscaler partners. Kyndryl’s services are also underpinned by cloud experts available to assist customers streamline their cloud adoption.

“You're not using license tools that are software which you have to pay extra money for; you're just using the last mile of tooling on that particular cloud,” said Grama. “You're not running it in a data center where you're burning energy, regardless of whether the tool is active or not. You're consuming the services of the public cloud as and when you want.”

Kyndryl emphasizes its focus on enhancing developer productivity to improve innovation—a direct result of co-creation with customers through the cloud native operating model, according to the vendor. Cost-efficient cloud migration and modernization, paired with simplified procurement and consistent delivery across clouds, simplifies deployments, reduces developer labor, and produces applications that are easier to manage and more resilient. Additionally, integration with technologies, such as AI, sets the foundation for improved innovation and productivity on behalf of developers.

Customers looking to automate processes will benefit from infrastructure-as-a-code (IaC) and policy-as-a-code, which advance secure delivery and automation, ultimately accelerating cloud adoption and minimizing costs.

“It’s not going to be brittle; when you try to do a one-size-fits-all, it’s going to be brittle because as the cloud changes, your automations may break your infrastructure. If you don't have it dynamically coded as infrastructure-as-a-code, it may break,” explained Grama. “What we’re doing here is if a particular cloud changes a service that manages its resource, you automatically inherit that because you’re using cloud native services.”
