ManageEngine Boosts Security of its Platforms

ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, is adding two-factor authentication (2FA) support in ADManager Plus, its Active Directory (AD) management, and reporting solution, making its platforms much more secure.

“We added two-factor authentication shortly after smart card support to enable our customers to set up simple yet more secure access to ADManager Plus. With these features, organizations can easily satisfy compliance regulations, such as PCI, HIPAA and SOX,” said Manikandan Thangaraj, director of product management at ManageEngine. “Since ADManager Plus is an access point to Active Directory, the additional layer of security around our solution translates into greater security for our customers’ AD as well.”

The addition of 2FA support establishes an extra layer of security around ADManager Plus logins while user provisioning support makes the iOS app a complete user life cycle management tool for on-the-go AD admins.

2FA improves data security by requiring users to prove their identity in two ways; so even if one factor is compromised (e.g., credentials), the attackers would still need to overcome the second layer of security (e.g., a one-time password). Using two factors to authenticate users effectively protects against the most common breaches to security.

The company is also adding user provisioning in the ADManager Plus iOS app.  With this latest update to the app, admins and help desk technicians will be able to provision user accounts across AD, Exchange Server, Office 365, G Suite (Google Apps) and Skype for Business (Lync), simultaneously; create user accounts with all the required attribute; and standardize user provisioning according to the requirements of a particular department or branch using appropriate templates.
