MapR and Google Cloud Platform Team Up to Help Data Professionals Gain Hadoop Training

MapR Technologies is collaborating with Google Cloud Platform to provide $500 of credit to spend on Google Cloud Platform services for each person who registers for its free Hadoop On-Demand Training program. The incentive gives students an opportunity to complete labs using Google’s cloud infrastructure at no charge, further supporting Hadoop skills development.

The credit is available only to students registered for MapR On-Demand Training classes. It enables them to have virtual environments to complete the required lab exercises in each course. After completing the lab exercises, students can continue to use the environment to try out Google Cloud Platform services like Google Compute Engine, Google BigQuery, or the recently announced Google Cloud Storage Nearline.

“Working with Google Cloud Platform on this training initiative is strong validation of the demand for skilled Hadoop professionals and the huge momentum we’ve achieved since we launched this program in late January,” said Dave Jespersen, vice president, worldwide services, MapR Technologies.  “MapR is revolutionizing Hadoop training by bringing to market a free, on-demand, interactive and engaging experience for data professionals and, with Google Cloud Platform, we are providing additional resources to extend their education and hands-on experience with Hadoop.”

The MapR Hadoop On-Demand Training Program also offers exams leading to certified Hadoop professional designations for developers, data analysts and administrators. To redeem the credit, register for MapR training and follow the instructions provided within the training portal.
