Nexenta Brings Software-Defined Storage to VMware Environments

Nexenta, a provider of open source-driven software-defined storage (OpenSDS), has rolled out its next wave of OpenSDS innovation for VMware solutions, and enhanced VMware interoperability for its entire portfolio. NexentaStor, the company’s flagship SDS solution, along with NexentaEdge and NexentaFusion, are designed to ultimately support a software-defined data center configuration.

NexentaStor 5.0 connects NexentaFusion and VMware vCenter Server to deliver deployment, configuration and on-going management of software-defined storage infrastructures. The framework provides a programmable and self-documenting REST API to support orchestration and integration with end-user and partner ecosystems. For VMware environments, NexentaStor builds on its existing VAAI Block support with a new vCenter Plug-in, enabling multi-tenant management of NexentaStor systems, deployed on physical hardware or in virtual machines for multi-tenant file services.
