Octopus Deploy Enhancements Emphasize Visibility and Automatic Deployment

Universal deployment automation company, Octopus Deploy, is debuting its latest product updates to Octopus ServiceNow Change Management Integration and Octopus DevOps Insights early access—highlighting the company’s commitment towards improving DevOps workloads through process error avoidance and extensive insights. Octopus Deploy’s work with more than 350,000 IT professionals serves as a testament towards its knowledge of effective DevOps contribution via deployment automation practices, according to the vendor.

"Deployment automation provides the collaboration and process environment at the intersection where ‘Dev’ and ‘Ops’ teams connect and work," said Paul Stovell, CEO and co-founder of Octopus Deploy. "Change Management automation via our ServiceNow integration and DORA metrics insights will help our customers speed feedback loops and streamline change management, along with better visibility into the overall health of DevOps initiatives."

With Octopus ServiceNow Change Management Integration, DevOps teams’ complex deployment pipeline management is mitigated by the solution’s automatic generation of pre-populated, normal change requests with out-of-the-box traceability for increased compliance assurance of CI/CD and release management processes. This feature aims to increase productivity of DevOps teams, while simultaneously making them more compliant. Automatic change requests equip appropriate stakeholders with the ability to ensure compliant and approved changes to avoid unapproved executions; unapproved changes are never deployed, improving the audit experience.

Octopus DevOps Insights works towards enhancing visibility within DevOps functions through four DORA metrics, enabling better enterprise decisions for internal improvement. This release is based on two levels of access; all customers will be able to benefit from deep insights generated by access reports at project level, while enterprise customers will have access to additional features to benefit their DevOps. These additional features include expansive data aggregation for metric comparisons across projects; more accurately identify problems and track improvements for better enterprise decision making; and generate quantifiable data regarding DevOps performance.

“We participated in the DevOps Insights Alpha program and found it really useful,” said Leslie Brody, principal site reliability engineer at IMO who participated in Octopus DevOps Insights’ Alpha iteration. “The insights give our teams easily accessible, concrete data to help validate our assumptions and make decisions. They provide proof-points to share with decision-makers and allow managers to find the information they need at a glance."

Other improvements brought forward by the Octopus Deploy Q3 2022 release include:

  • Additional support for Configuration as Code variables within version-controlled projects.
  • Jira Service Management integration in early access.
