Oracle has announced Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g. A component of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g supports all types of processes with a new unified process foundation, targeted user-centric design and new social BPM capabilities, and includes a native implementation of BPMN 2.0.
Historically, when choosing BPM solutions organizations have had to make a choice between a business user-friendly solution or one that provides rich support for the IT and integration capabilities, David Shaffer, vice president, product management, Oracle Fusion Middleware, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "What's really unique here is that we are offering a single product that is complete and unified," Shaffer emphasizes.
To deliver a unified process foundation that simplifies process development, deployment, monitoring and execution, Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g includes a unified process engine that brings together BPEL and BPMN 2.0 processes, human workflow and rules, and is integrated with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Business Activity Monitoring and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus. Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g also includes Oracle Universal Content Management for document-centric processes; and end-to-end management to unify the management and monitoring of business processes.
Providing a user-centric design approach, Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g simplifies the process management lifecycle with tools that are tailored for each user's role and responsibilities. To accomplish this, the suite includes BPM Studio for role-based modeling and design; Process Composer for web-based process modeling and deployment; process analysis and reporting for business visibility, process status and operational reporting; and a single "what-you-see-is-what-you-execute" process model supporting the entire BPM lifecycle and eliminating synchronization problems.
Oracle Business Process Management Suite 11g also adds social BPM capabilities that enable communication and collaboration among users by incorporating social computing and Enterprise 2.0 technologies, including wikis and blogs. Key elements of this approach include Process Spaces to deliver customized team spaces for business and IT through the phases of the BPM lifecycle; Business Process Guides that provide a milestone-centered view of processes; and Unstructured Process Support, to help users address unexpected process changes by dynamically adding and delegating to additional process participants.
