Oracle yesterday announced that it has acquired Silver Creek Systems, Inc., a provider of product data quality solutions. Silver Creek's DataLens product data quality solution is designed to simplify complex product descriptions commonly found in many industries, enabling enterprises to more accurately manage product data.
"Lack of standardized product data continues to be a challenge for many enterprises," says Hasan Rizvi, senior vice president, Oracle Fusion Middleware Product Development. "With the addition of Silver Creek, Oracle is extending its industry leading data integration offering with complementary solutions to enhance product data quality and help customers get more accurate and consistent product data for use across their enterprise."
The combination of Silver Creek and Oracle is expected to enhance product data quality across enterprise applications including Oracle's Product Information Management Data Hub, Agile Product Lifecycle Management, Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Resource Planning offerings, according to Oracle. Oracle also said that the addition of Silver Creek products complements Oracle's Information Management offerings that include Oracle Data Integration, Oracle Data Quality, Oracle Master Data Management, and Oracle Business Intelligence, to provide a more complete and integrated solution.
Oracle had previously announced an OEM Agreement with Silver Creek Systems, a member in the Oracle PartnerNetwork. Through that arrangement, announced in April 2009, Oracle unveiled Oracle Product Data Quality Cleansing and Matching Server, an offering based on Silver Creek's DataLens System.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
