Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Announces Second Data Center Region in Japan

Oracle has announced that a new cloud region in Osaka, Japan is now available. The region name is ap-osaka-1. The region key is KIX. This region has one availability domain.

In a blog post last year announcing an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure data center region in Tokyo, Andrew Reichman, director of product management for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said that cloud investment in Japan is growing rapidly. "According to IDC Japan Ltd., the market for public cloud services reached 668.8 billion yen in 2018, up 27.2 percent from the previous year, and the market size is projected to grow to 1,694 billion yen by 2023," said Reichman. "Oracle can now serve this high demand for cloud with a local region of a cloud platform that’s optimized for Oracle’s leading database and enterprise applications, and for the third-party and custom workloads that enterprises use to power their business."

In the 2019 blog post, Reichman said the addition of the second Japan region in Osaka would server to further enable effective workload deployment among the most demanding enterprises and public-sector organizations in the country.
