Powered by Backblaze Drives Affordable and Intuitive Cloud Storage

Backblaze, Inc., the leading specialized storage cloud, is unveiling Powered by Backblaze, an object storage solution that empowers Backblaze partners to effectively deliver the best cloud storage experience to their customers without adding any additional complexity. Prompted by requests from Backblaze’s large ecosystem of partners, Powered by Backblaze addresses customer desires for cloud storage with affordability and ease-of-use at the forefront, according to the company.

Powered by Backblaze is a program that enables Independent Software Vendors (ISV), technology partners, and other enterprises to embed Backblaze’s B2 Cloud Storage offering into their platform offerings.

This solution aims to completely take care of the complexities associated with “building performant, affordable, and easy cloud storage,” according to Gleb Budman, CEO at Backblaze.

“[Our alliances] want to allow their users to focus on using their platforms, using their services, using their offerings…[and] the way to make that easy is to completely abstract the concept of cloud storage, in general, from those platforms,” said Elton Carneiro, director of partnerships for Backblaze. “[This makes] it easy for those customers…to come into a platform—doesn't matter what the platform is—[and] leverage the features of that platform but are rest assured that the data they are using is stored securely and safely.”

“This is essentially allowing these platform providers—who are already selling to their customers—to incorporate storage into their solution without them having to do the heavy lifting,” added Kevin Gavin, CMO at Backblaze. “It's Backblaze under the cover, in the background, but [our partners are] offering it to their customers as a seamless solution while leveraging the expertise and the quality of the Backblaze Cloud Storage solution in the background.”

The launch of Powered by Backblaze brings in tow two new features that support the delivery of B2 Cloud Storage: Custom Domains and the Backblaze Partner API.

Custom Domains allows organizations to use their own preferred domain while engaging with cloud storage, taking the headache out of the management process. This capability removes the need for any complex code when serving content to end users from a web domain or URL of their choosing, allowing any calls made to the object storage to do so without incurring any additional difficulties.

The Backblaze Partner API allows enterprises to provision Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage accounts on behalf of their customers from within their own platform. This API offers in-depth details regarding billing information while enabling companies to manage accounts, run reports, and create a bundled solution or managed service for centralizing the user experience.

“The world is shifting towards this kind of an open cloud concept, [where] it was the hyperscalers—AWS and then followed by Google and Microsoft—that kind of created the initial cloud movement,” explained Gavin. “But they create this kind of a walled garden where they try to own all of your business and it ends up with high prices, complexities, and rules and regulations around how you can use your data and where you can move it.”

“There's this new breed of companies…allowing businesses to choose where they want how they want to use their data…so this [Powered by Backblaze] is part of that greater movement where providers can use Backblaze’s lower cost, easier to use, customer-friendly approach to provide services,” Gavin added.

With the release of Powered by Backblaze, the company emphasizes hearing feedback from their partners to continue to improve and iterate this solution.
