Quest Software, Inc. announced that Quest’s stockholders approved the acquisition of Quest by Dell Inc. at the meeting of Quest’s stockholders held Tuesday, September 25. Closing of the transaction is subject to the satisfaction and waiver of remaining closing conditions.
Dell previously announced the formation of its Software Group to build upon its existing software expertise. In July when the deal was first announced, Dell said that Quest’s software solutions and key technologies are strongly aligned with its own software strategy, and that the acquisition would provide critical components to expand Dell’s software capabilities in systems management, security, data protection and workspace management. In addition, it said, Quest’s software portfolio is “highly complementary” to Dell’s scalable design approach to develop solutions that scale with customer needs.
