RDM Infinity Helps Specter Off-Road Migrate Custom Programming to MVsharp

RDM Infinity recently assisted Specter Off-Road with the move to MVsharp, preserving the custom programming it depended on while gaining a more agile platform, a path to new integrations, and a support team that responds when help is needed.

Specter Off-Road began in 1982 when Marv and Kay Spector started selling Toyota Land Cruiser parts. Today, SOR ships Land Cruiser parts around the world and maintains a collection of more than 50 rare and historic vehicles.

For close to 30 years, a highly customized MultiValue system supported SOR’s day-to-day operations. It was stable, secure, and shaped around the way the company worked. But as the long-term direction of the legacy platform became less certain, SOR chose to move before limited options around licensing, support, and technology forced the decision.

RDM Infinity moved SOR to MVsharp, giving the company a Windows-based environment while preserving the programs and business logic it had built over decades. The work focused on flexibility, custom programming, and a support model designed around SOR’s actual needs, according to the companies.

MVsharp provided the compatibility SOR needed for its existing programs, along with the flexibility to adapt when the new environment handled a workflow differently. RDM could make changes quickly and continue shaping the platform around how SOR operates.

RDM carried forward business-critical code and added the functionality SOR needed. This allowed SOR to keep the processes that worked while gaining more flexibility to adjust and expand the system over time, the companies said.

RDM supported the transition and continues to support SOR’s environment directly. Instead of navigating multiple support layers, SOR works with a responsive team that understands its system and can address software, hardware, maintenance, and technical needs, the company said.

“I don’t think in all of my career I’ve worked with a company so easy to work with,” said Adam Sleman, creative director at Specter Off-Road.
