Redgate Presents pgNow Community and pgCompare Community to Promote the Deployment and Maintenance of PostgreSQL Environments

Redgate Software is launching Redgate pgNow Community and Redgate pgCompare Community, two new tools that provide Redgate’s database DevOps capabilities to PostgreSQL.

Available immediately and free to use, the tools further extend Redgate’s multi-database support for PostgreSQL, reflecting the growing adoption of PostgreSQL in modern data environments, the company said.

“PostgreSQL has rapidly moved from a niche option to a critical part of modern data stacks, especially as teams race to build cloud-native and AI-driven applications,” said Grant Fritchey, Redgate Advocate. “At the same time, the pressure to move faster and reduce risk has never been higher. With pgNow and pgCompare, Redgate is responding to a clear and urgent need for trusted, developer-friendly tools that make it easier to monitor, manage, and support smooth deployments across PostgreSQL environments at scale.”

Designed to offer fast, focused diagnostics for PostgreSQL, Redgate pgNow gives DBAs and developers instant visibility into what’s really happening inside their databases.

Both experienced and new-to-PostgreSQL users will save time by diagnosing issues, tuning configurations, and fixing slowdowns faster than before.

Benefits include:

Stay in control of your PostgreSQL performance Triage fast and troubleshoot smarter with query snapshots and workload deltas, track live sessions and wait states in real time, blocking process detection and insight, and gleaning immediate powerful and valuable internal PostgreSQL performance data.

Get straight to answers – Understand what’s wrong and what to do next without the need to dig through raw metrics or leverage deep expertise, thanks to clear answers including configuration health checks and tuning suggestions, index usage and duplication insights, and vacuum effectiveness summaries.

Purpose-built for PostgreSQL with no clutter or setup – Use a lightweight desktop app developed for Windows, macOS, Linux, with no required setup, storage, or agents, and minimal permissions: pg_monitor-level access only.

Redgate pgNow is available as a free download here.

Supporting users who need to deploy changes to PostgreSQL databases or compare two databases, Redgate pgCompare is the fastest way to deploy and compare PostgreSQL schemas. It helps users do these jobs quickly, simply, and with zero errors, offering the following features:

Compare PostgreSQL databases – From dev to test to production, Redgate pgCompare enables PostgreSQL schema change comparisons, so teams can explore what’s changed in each database object, down to individual lines of code.

Find and fix problems in production – Teams can find and fix errors by using comparisons against another database, then deploy single objects to fix issues fast, or create an error-free deployment script in minutes.

Speed up releases - Validate and deploy schema changes in minutes to keep shipping features without firefighting.

Deploy with zero errors – Redgate pgCompare scripts database dependencies in the right order to make sure deployment is successful. Notifications about any issues, such as data loss, are delivered before deployment begins.

Redgate pgCompare is available now as a free, community edition for students, educators, small businesses, and non-commercial open-source projects. Users can download Redgate pgCompare here.
