SAP Cloud Platform Emphasizes SAP's Multi-Cloud Vision

After becoming a platinum sponsor of the Cloud Foundry Summit, the premier event for enterprise app developers, SAP is making it known to users that its Cloud platform can handle any information or infrastructure as a service technology.

SAP Cloud Platform leverages the openness of Cloud Foundry to provide customer choice of underlying infrastructure and programming models to shape the next-generation open enterprise platform.

As announced recently, SAP Cloud Platform, based on Cloud Foundry, delivers a multicloud business platform offering smart business services as well as a unified digital marketplace experience via SAP App Center.

“It’s really different than what most other PaaS vendors are doing,” said Dan Lahl, SAP’s vice president of product marketing.

SAP Cloud Platform is also the foundation for SAP Leonardo, SAP’s digital innovation system that brings differentiating software capabilities in machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, analytics and blockchain together with SAP’s experience, deep process and industry knowledge, and advanced design thinking methodology.

Cloud Foundry supports users such as application developers, software system admins, and more, according to Lahl.

“We think we have a great offer for customers who don’t want to get locked into any specific infrastructure vendor,” Lahl said. “They can pick and choose if they want to run some applications on AWS and then if they want to hook up an SAP application to that, great!”

SAP also intends to be a platinum sponsor of the Cloud Foundry Summit taking place in Basel, Switzerland, on October 11-12, 2017.
