SAP Consolidates its Analytics Brand under the BusinessObjects Umbrella

SAP is streamlining its analytics portfolio, introducing features and capabilities to simplify the analytics process, strengthen the brand, and give users greater access to the cloud.

The updated offerings include SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, formerly known as SAP Cloud for Analytics, and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.

Moving forward, all analytics solutions from SAP will be under the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio umbrella.

“Over the years, there have been a number of technologies that have been acquired by SAP, and a broad portfolio of analytics solutions,” said Nic Smith, vice president of product marketing for SAP BusinessObjects Cloud. “A big part of this announcement is to simplify that.”

The aim is to deliver a comprehensive set of modern analytics capabilities, on premise and in the cloud, that work together to analyze data wherever it resides, help users better understand their business, simplify the enterprise, and transform in the digital age.

The offerings will be available through three editions, including SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise premium edition, which offers a complete analytics offering of BI, mobile, and predictive capabilities and also features key enhancements in Big Data analytics; SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise professional edition, which delivers a modern BI suite with reporting, visualization, and discovery capabilities; and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise standard edition which provides a set of ad hoc reporting tools to offer immediate answers to all users through the web, desktop, or mobile devices.

Along with this announcement, SAP BusinessObjects Cloud is enhancing its BI capabilities with new visualizations and storytelling, data wrangling and blending, geospatial, trend analysis, custom filters, linked stories, notifications, and chat capabilities.

The enhancements to SAP BusinessObjects Cloud are intended to allow  customers to more easily connect and blend existing data sources such as the SAP ERP and SAP Business Warehouse applications, SAP BusinessObjects universes, SAP BusinessObjects Lumira software models, SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, SAP SuccessFactors solutions, Salesforce, and Google Drive, according to SAP.

Predictive analytics capabilities for business users have also been added to the SAP BusinessObjects Cloud offering, which already includes SaaS-based BI and planning capabilities.

Additionally the SAP BusinessObjects Roambi mobile app is now available in the U.S. as a new offering in the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.  It can deliver visualizations instantly to mobile devices so data consumers can intuitively understand and explore data, and share information across the enterprise.

Anyone who needs insights from their data or performs analysis to create stories with their data will benefit from these enhancements, according to Smith. “Two major pieces to the analytics portfolio, BusinessObjects Enterprise and BusinessObjects Cloud, continue innovation for both,” Smith said. “The vision here is providing all analytic capabilities.”
