SOA Software Brings API Management to IBM DataPower Appliances

SOA Software, a provider of application programming interface (API) management tools, announced a new product set that manages the lifecycle of IBM DataPower-based APIs, and extends the capabilities of the SOA Software Integrated Governance Solution for IBM DataPower.

API Management for the IBM WebSphere DataPower family of SOA appliances offers a unified approach to managing both APIs and services, and extends the capabilities of DataPower infrastructure, enabling mobile and web solutions for internal mainframe and WebSphere MQ based services. SOA Software's API Gateway, Lifecycle Manager for APIs and Community Manager have been integrated with DataPower, providing our customers a single API Management solution.

"APIs present a challenge to IT organizations today," says Alistair Farquharson, CTO of SOA Software. "Our approach to API management on DataPower allows IT organizations to keep pace with technology advances presented by next generation mobile and web applications.” This includes everything from accessing mainframe data or initiating a web-based business transaction using WebSphere MQ, he adds.

The SOA Software API Management solution for DataPower supports a range of API standards including REST, JSON, OAuth and OpenID. It ensures interoperability with back-end systems through support for SOAP and WebSphere MQ, and supports diverse security standards including SAML, Kerberos, LDAP, X509 and WS-Security.
