SolarWinds Enhances Support for Oracle Multitenant Databases

SolarWinds, a provider of hybrid IT infrastructure management software, is adding improved support for Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition in the latest release of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer. With the additional support for Oracle Database 12c, the SolarWinds tool now pinpoints efficiency issues and optimizes performance of Oracle pluggable databases in a multitenant environment through tuning, metric visibility and resource correlation to help ensure the availability and speed of business-critical applications.

“In Oracle 12c, DBAs encounter the challenge of monitoring both the containers and the databases that plug into them, and as their infrastructure grows, this will only become more complicated,” said Nikki Jennings, group vice president, product strategy, SolarWinds.

To support DBAs as they work to improve the performance of their databases, said Jennings, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer now has the ability to register and monitor individual pluggable databases.

SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer supports Oracle, MySQL, and other DBMSs, and provides advice for optimization and tuning to accelerate performance.

According to the vendor, using agentless architecture and multi-dimensional performance analysis, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer finds the root cause of complex problems and improves the performance of on-premises, virtualized, cloud or hybrid environments.

With support for Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition, the latest version of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer simplifies monitoring pluggable databases in a multitenant container database with automatic detection of pluggable database groups and association of pluggable databases with  with container databases;  annotations that records pluggable database movements including when a database joins or leaves a container database,  and that track the significance of any change trends over time; alerts that provide information about movement and availability of pluggable databases; and performance analysis and optimization features that complement Oracle Enterprise Manager and simplify troubleshooting with response-time analysis.
