Tableau Software and Amazon Web Services Extend Big Data Analytics

Tableau Software, a provider of business analytics software, is offering official support for Tableau Server running on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform, connecting to Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), and a new Tableau integrated data connector to Amazon Redshift.

The combination of Tableau software and Amazon Redshift provides a business intelligence platform that delivers IT innovation, improved agility, and self-service analytics. This integrated cloud platform delivers the reliability, availability, and capability to visualize enormous volumes of data, derive rapid insight, and make data-driven decisions faster without setting up a costly and time consuming traditional data warehouse environment.

With Amazon RDS, Tableau customers can choose the database of their choice, whether it's MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL, load data to a secure cloud environment and then analyze and interact with that data in just a few clicks.

"We are thrilled to extend our work with AWS and support the growing demand to see and understand data," said Dan Jewett, vice president of product management at Tableau Software. "AWS' rich suite of offerings combined with Tableau provides our joint customers, like Foursquare, Sling Media, and Zillow with more supported options for accessing and analyzing their data in low cost model compared to traditional business intelligence platforms."
