UnboundID Enhances Real-Time Customer Identity Data Platform

UnboundID, a platform provider for identity data, has released Version 4.0 of the UnboundID Identity Data Platform, providing data unification, greater security, and real-time scalability to manage the rapidly growing volume and transactions of identity data. The new release expands the UnboundID solution for helping some of the world’s largest telecommunications, financial services, enterprise, mobile, and cloud services companies manage their core asset in the identity economy: customer identity data. UnboundID is a privately held company based in Austin, Texas, and is funded by Silverton Partners and OpenView Venture Partners.

“The UnboundID Identity Data Platform is geared toward real-time uses such as operational uses and service delivery types of use cases, whereby you need customer data to be delivered to an application, to a service, in real time or near-real time,”  Nick Crown, director of product marketing at UnboundID,” tells 5 Minute Briefing. Examples of use cases range from security-related concerns such as authentication or fraud prevention for a financial institution or it could be for purposes to the personalizing of an application to a customer in real time as they are using it.

According to UnboundID, the rapid growth of mobile, social, and cloud applications, the personal data created by consumers – including individual identity data and behavioral data – is growing rapidly, with users leaving footprints over several systems, which can disguise the fact that those transactions all belong to the same identity. Having a data platform that helps companies unify and prioritize this information to provide a more complete picture of a customer’s desires, needs and preferences greatly increases the value of a company’s customer data.

The UnboundID Identity Data Platform helps companies gain new insights about customers and provides a holistic view of end-customer preferences, enabling them to provide highly personalized products and services to those customers. Version 4.0 of the platform also provides a flexible and secure infrastructure for customers to productize and share identity data.

According to UnboundID, the new version of the platform focuses on the needs of top companies which it says are speed and fine-grained control of data access. For example, data can be prioritized by the frequency that certain identity information is needed, like names and addresses, which can be pulled with sub-millisecond response times. Complex data from multiple sources can be unified and prioritized as needed for fast retrieval. In addition to supporting accessibility through the LDAP and SCIM protocols, the platform increases usability by incorporating a generic REST-based Identity API. This new feature improves data access through common web development languages.

Key components of the UnboundID Identity Data Platform Version 4.0 are the Identity Data Store, which securely manages and organizes data for sub-millisecond access; Identity Proxy, which directs and secures data at scale, providing intelligent load distribution and fail-over capabilities; and Identity Data Sync to synchronize and update data from multiple sources, allowing for real-time data access.

Under the covers, explains Crown, the UnboundID platform is based on a key-value store NoSQL database, which may be described as a high-speed read-through/write-through data cache.
