Upcoming UNITE Conference Agenda Now Available on UNITE Website

UNITE, the volunteer-based organization of Unisys users from around the world,  has announced that the agenda for the 2011 Annual UNITE Technology Conference and Exhibition is now available on the UNITE website. The event will be held May 22-25, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove, California.

The theme for this year's conference is "Innovation - Solving Today's Business Problems with Solutions That Keep the World Moving." As in previous years, conference tracks will include BIS, OS 2200, MCP, and EAE.

The 2011 conference keynote will be presented by  Ann Thureen, vice president, Unisys Engineering and Supply Chain Technology and Infrastructure Services; and Wayne Carpenter,  sales vice president, Application Modernization, North America Technology, Consulting and Integration Solutions, Unisys. Their presentation is titled "Avoid the Train Wreck:  The Application Modernization Imperative."

Thureen has more than 30 years of experience with Unisys.  She is responsible for product development and support of the OS 2200 ClearPath product line.  Carpenter has more than 35 years of experience with Unisys, and is program and sales lead for application modernization for the North American theater.

This will be the second year in a row that UNITE is presenting its annual conference in the spring, rather than fall and, according to focus groups, the decision to make the change was a good one, Jim Shelton, UNITE chair, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "People's budgets seem to be freer in the spring because quite frankly it is earlier in the year. Also, Unisys' announcements tend to be made in the spring. All in all, the change has been very well received."

This year, UNITE is also working very closely with Unisys to encourage attendance by people who may never have been to a Unisys focused conference, adds Shelton.  "We are looking at people outside North America, for example, and we actually have a potential user-speaker who is coming from the Netherlands," says Shelton.  UNITE offers unique benefits to attendees for networking and education, he observes.  "If you look at the number of Unisys users conferences in the world there are very few of them anymore."
