Upwind, the company on a mission to build the world’s best cloud security platform, has just acquired Nyx Security, a startup focusing on real-time application-layer threat detection. As Upwind’s first acquisition, this moment reflects Upwind’s commitment to delivering end-to-end cloud security, spanning both infrastructure and applications.
The Nyx Security acquisition enables Upwind to provide a more unified view of functions running and being executed in real time, increasing the detection of exploited vulnerabilities and behavioral anomalies. Nyx Security’s expertise in embedded systems, application-layer analysis, and low-level threat detection complements Upwind’s cloud-native protection, according to the company.
“True cloud security platform requires understanding the complex interplay between cloud infrastructure and the applications running on it,” said Amiram Shachar, Upwind CEO. “The acquisition of Nyx Security cements Upwind’s leadership in full-stack runtime security.”
The acquisition expands Upwind’s real-time security engine into the application layer, offering:
- Application Detection & Response (ADR) that pinpoints function-level activity during runtime
- Deeper behavioral anomaly detection designed to catch code doing what it shouldn’t
- No added complexity by using the same runtime sensor
“With this acquisition, Upwind is now the first cloud security platform to fully unify runtime visibility across infrastructure and application layers in live cloud environments. We’re building for the real world—solving the more critical issues customers are facing, in one unified, powerful platform,” Shachar continued.
