Real-World COVID Patient Testing System Using Autonomous Database: From Design, Deployment and Day 2 Support

We all say 2020 was a crazy year. COVID-19 put a damper on everything. In 2020, an internal Oracle team was assembled along with several value-add partners to develop a Patient Screening, Scheduling, and Testing System. This system was built in rapid development mode to deal with the much-needed COVID-19 testing. The Coalition executed Mockups, POCs, and deployment all at unprecedented speed. Due to the short time frame and urgent need, critical decisions on platform stack components, governance, and long-term supportability were quick.
This session will walk through the technical and design requirements, fundamental governance needs, execution decisions, and deployment models. As part of this discussion, we describe the thought process for the final stack design, how the CDC COVID-19 guidelines impacted our solution, explain the overall configuration, and outline the deployment experience.
Key areas of discussion will include Autonomous Database features, Data Safe, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Services.
