Our friends at BMC forwarded this to us: A new survey the vendor recently conducted among its customers (cited in the article, "BMC Announces Support of IBM's DB2 10 for z/OS," above) found a strong following for the mainframe, but concern about the availability of talent to keep large data centers running. Close to a third of respondents from around the globe say they are facing a talent drain as mainframe-skilled professionals retire or move on. Expect this trend to be exacerbated by general IT talent shortages as companies look to technology to boost growth and support cloud computing.
