Who are ‘Chief Digital Officers’?


There has been a steady increase in the addition of a new title to organizational charts: the “Chief Digital Officer.”

How does this differ from the Chief Information Officer role? While there is likely to be overlap (and even some turf battles), CDOs will focus on assisting departments – especially marketing and operations – figure out how to capture and monetize data flows. CIOs will continue to concentrate on building and maintaining the technology platforms that will make this all happen.

Collaboration between CDOs and CIOs will only help organizations move more seamlessly into the digital age.
