The influence of generative AI (GenAI) and decision intelligence continues to drive data-driven processes. While data quality and security remain essential, everyday components, organizations should also embrace AI/ machine language-driven automation and self-service analytics, while paying equal attention to the human element, thereby fostering a strong data culture, robust governance, and enhanced data literacy.

These are the findings of the BARC “Data, BI and Analytics Trend Monitor 2026,” report, which recommended companies assert a strong data foundation for AI success.

Investments in data quality, security, and availability, along with a modern, scalable infrastructure, are essential prerequisites for achieving results.

GenAI has already expanded the landscape by introducing new use cases and sources of unstructured data. Eyes are now also on agentic AI as it currently emphasizes the importance of metadata availability, providing agents with meaningful context to enhance their effectiveness.

A modern information architecture is essential to support the cloud for data and analytics, data warehouse modernization, and the integration of AI-driven insights, the report stresses.

With growing complexity, organizations need flexible platforms that combine scalability with governance and enable seamless access to diverse data.

Embedding BI and analytics into operational workflows enhances agility. Modernization efforts lay the foundation for advanced analytics, decision intelligence, and real-time responsiveness within increasingly dynamic business environments.

“A strong data culture is the foundation for realizing value from AI, decision intelligence and future innovations,” the report’s authors stated.

With more data being created than ever before, making the right choices among the countless options for data management and analytics solutions is a top priority for many organizations. To help companies progress along their data-driven journeys, each year, DBTA presents the Readers’ Choice Awards, offering the opportunity to recognize companies whose products have been selected by the experts—our readers!

Representative of the IT market itself, the categories in the competition are diverse, ranging from well-established technologies such as MultiValue and relational database systems to newer products and services for AI, DataOps, the Internet of Things, retrieval-augmented generation, metadata, and more.

Here, we present the top three vote-getters in each category. Congratulations to all, and thanks to everyone who submitted nominations and voted!
