Catalogic Software, a provider of smart data protection solutions, is releasing major features to its cloud native back-up-as-a-service platform, CloudCasa, enabling advanced migration and recovery to restore data across clusters, regions, cloud accounts, and cloud providers. CloudCasa protects cloud-native applications across IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), DigitalOcean, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Red Hat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, and VMware Tanzu.

Micro Focus has announced the results of its new COBOL survey that reveals the latest global developments and 2022 plans for enterprises utilizing COBOL and mainframe technology. The survey found that not only is COBOL continually viewed as strategic by 92% of respondents, but that the amount of COBOL code has significantly increased.

IBM has announced new capabilities designed to modernize applications across hybrid cloud environments. These include plans to deliver IBM Z as-a-service on IBM Cloud for development and test in the second half of 2022, as well as additional tools for developing hybrid applications. According to the IBM Institute for Business Value study, "Application Modernization on the Mainframe," 71% of responding executives say mainframe-based applications are central to their business strategy.

According to the "IBM Cyber Resilient Organization" study, 46% of respondents have experienced a ransomware attack over the past 2 years. To help companies better detect and recover quickly from ransomware and other cyberattacks, IBM recently unveiled IBM FlashSystem Cyber Vault. The company also announced new FlashSystem storage models—based on IBM Spectrum Virtualize to provide a single and consistent operating environment—that are designed to increase cyber resilience and application performance within a hybrid cloud environment.

IBM is working with SAP to provide technology and consulting expertise to make it easier for clients to embrace a hybrid cloud approach and move mission-critical workloads from SAP solutions to the cloud for regulated and non-regulated industries.
