Information availability software provider Attunity has partnered with EMC to offer a high-performance big data replication solution for the EMC Greenplum Unified Analytics Platform, as well as dedicated optimizations to Attunity Replicate from EMC Greenplum. "Enterprise architects have to pay special attention to data flow. Data is their critical asset and right now enterprise architects are really challenged with a ‘data bottleneck,'" Matt Benati, Attunity's vice president of global marketing, tells 5 Minute Briefing.

Big data analytics provider Datameer has announced that its technology is now integrated into Dell's Emerging Solutions Ecosystem, which offers complementary hardware, software, and services in a pre-packaged bundle. Built with Dell infrastructure, Datameer analytics technology is offered on top of Cloudera's distribution of Apache Hadoop. The software is well suited to organizations that need to make quick decisions based on structured and unstructured data, such as financial services, retail, telecommunications, and Web 2.0 companies. "The advantage to the end user is they can buy all of this from one source, it's all integrated together, it runs seamlessly, and it's an easy solution for people to purchase and use," Joe Nicholson, Datameer's vice president of marketing and business development, tells DBTA.

Oracle has introduced a new migration tool that aims to make it easier for users to migrate data from SQL Server to MySQL. The new migration tool is integrated into MySQL Workbench, which allows the visual design, development and administration of MySQL Databases. According to Oracle, with MySQL Workbench, SQL Server developers and DBAs can easily convert existing applications to run on MySQL, both on Windows and other platforms. In addition, to address the growing demand from business analysts using MySQL for data marts and analytic applications, Oracle has announced a new "MySQL for Excel" application plug-in that allows users to import, export and manipulate MySQL data, without requiring prior MySQL technical knowledge.

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) is planning two OAUG Connection Point events - one focused on Enterprise Performance Management/Business Intelligence and the other on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1+/Fusion Coexistence.

Data security provider Imperva has announced upgrades to its Database Audit and Protection (DAP) solution, SecureSphere Database Activity Monitoring 9.5. The company has also released a new version of its free database vulnerability scanner, Scuba 2.0. These solutions provide new features and capabilities that meet the security needs of large and distributed enterprise data centers by protecting data warehouses.

Liaison Technologies, a global provider of secure cloud-based integration and data management services and solutions, announced its support for a broad range of cloud services and on-premises applications within its Data Aware Cloud Services Brokerage, an on-demand, any-to-any integration platform as a service (iPaaS). "There are two obstacles to companies that want to use SaaS and DaaS offerings along with their on-premises applications: connecting and data integration," says Christopher Hale, Liaison's vice president for global product marketing.

Dell is introducing a new Big Data retention solution aimed at reducing the costs of retaining big data while helping to improve management for easy retrieval and analysis. "Not only are the volumes of data growing - so is its value to the organization," says Darren Thomas, vice president and general manager, Dell Enterprise Storage. "Being able to cost-effectively capture and store all of the relevant data makes it possible to gain insights that support innovation and business value. The key is having the right data management solution to fluidly move data, tier it, dedupe it, protect it and archive it. To us, that means your data is fluid."

SAP AG has announced new business intelligence (BI) innovations to bring customers richer business insights. Now generally available, feature pack 3 for the 4.0 release of SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions - including SAP BusinessObjects BI, Edge edition - and the 1.0.1 release of SAP Visual Intelligence software equip users with analytics tools that are easy to access and use. The feature pack release for SAP Crystal Server software is planned to be generally available this month.
