Industry publications and thought leaders have been touting the benefits of composable design for both business and architecture. Andy Vidan, CEO and co-founder, Composable Analytics talked "Composable Design Patterns," during his session at Data Summit 2023.

MLOps can streamline machine learning development, thus increasing operational effectiveness. With this in mind, Joey Jablonski, VP, analytics, Pythian, looked at the journey to defining and implementing an MLOps solution for the organization during his Data Summit 2023 presentation, "Building MLOps Organizations for Scale."

Jeff Jockisch, CEO of PrivacyPlan and partner at Avantis Privacy, offered his expertise in data privacy and privacy laws at the annual Data Summit's pre-conference workshop, "Essentials of Data Privacy and Security," highlighting the ways in which evolving technology and consumer preferences affect information practices and data security.

The Data Summit 2023 conference opened up focusing on "The World According to Data," with featured speakers David Weinberger, Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society and Author, Christina Leber, principal data software engineer, iRobot, and Dave Mohr, regional VP, Neo4J.

Probably the most important reason for building knowledge graphs has been to answer this age-old question: "What is going to happen next?" Given the data, relationships, and timelines we know about a customer, patient, product, etc. ("the entity of interest"), how can we confidently predict the most likely next event? Jans Aasman, CEO, Franz Inc discussed how to, "Build Predictions With Machine Learning & Graph Neural Networks," during his Data Summit 2023 presentation.

While data quality tools find issues in production, it is too little, too late. Production data issues are expensive to fix and cause business discontinuity and reputation risk. iceDQ believes companies should adopt a left-shift approach to prevent faulty processes and data from entering production. Sandesh Gawande, CTO, iCEDQ, discussed "Data Testing: A Left-Shift Approach to Data Quality" during his Data Summit 2023 presentation.

John O'Brien, principal advisor and industry analyst in data strategy and architecture at Radiant Advisors, led Data Summit's pre-conference workshop, "Build The Modern Data Architecture & Plan That Transforms Your Company," to demystify the steps toward building a data architecture that fits an enterprise's unique needs while addressing the challenges that might arise.

Data science methods provide a means to establish analytic tradecraft, capable of managing a large amount of data, allowing for full characterization of actor behaviors, and providing valuable insights. Efrain Rodriquez, data manager, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), presented a case study on how the intelligence community (IC) is addressing these challenges by establishing innovative AI/ML governance and data management methodologies, during his Data Summit 2023 session, "Using Data Management Methodologies to Foster Development of Transformational AI/ML Tradecraft."
