News Flashes

Oracle and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a joint effort to further advance the DOE's current and future AI and advanced computing initiatives, including the Genesis Mission. As part of a non-binding agreement, Oracle and the DOE will work together to foster technological innovation, accelerate the deployment of next-generation AI capabilities, and help strengthen domestic capacity in key areas such as compute infrastructure, data architecture, and responsible AI development.

Oracle is partnering with Related Digital and DTE Energy, to construct Oracle's AI data center in Saline Township, Michigan. As the future tenant, Oracle will operate the data center once it's delivered and provisioned, outfitting it with the latest technology for its customer, OpenAI, according to Oracle.

It's being reported that TikTok has signed a deal to spin-off its U.S. operations to a group controlled by mostly American investors, including Oracle. According to the agreement, TikTok's U.S. algorithm will be retrained with only Americans' data. Content moderation rules around what is permitted and what is not will be set by the new investor-controlled entity, NPR reports.

Think About It

The daily routine of an IT professional remains largely reactive. A lot of time and budget is spent responding to tickets, limiting the time that we spend creating systems that drive growth and improve business value. I've long said, "the tyranny of the urgent leaves little time for the truly important."
