Alation and Trifacta Partner on Integrated Data Cataloging and Data Wrangling Solution

Alation and Trifacta say they are extending their partnership to jointly deliver an integrated solution for self-service data discovery and preparation.

Alation provides a data catalog for collaboration, while Trifacta provides data wrangling software.

The companies say the unified solution enables analysts to work with data from either the Alation Data Catalog or Trifacta Wrangler Enterprise, and to access the data catalog and data wrangling features within a single interface, helping to improve the process of preparing data for self-service analysis.

As organizations embrace self-service analytics they are struggling with the distributed nature of these projects, said Satyen Sangani, CEO, Alation, who noted that analysts need tools that allow them to work productively and in a more collaborative manner with data experts.

It is critical that best-of-breed products work together seamlessly, and to accomplish this, organizations must openly share metadata across applications and users to ensure that they effectively utilize and govern their information, added Adam Wilson, CEO, Trifacta. Through this partnership, he noted, the companies are providing analysts with an integrated solution for data wrangling and cataloging that meets the requirements of modern self-service analytics.

According to the vendors, joint Alation and Trifacta customers already include eBay, MarketShare, and Munich Re.

The companies say they have committed to a joint development roadmap through the end of 2017, and the initial integration is scheduled for general availability in the second quarter of 2017.
