ALTR, provider of advanced data security for data-driven enterprises, is releasing ALTR Cloud Integration for Snowflake, delivering direct cloud-to-cloud data security. ALTR extends Snowflake's built-in security with the simplicity of ALTR's real-time data consumption governance capabilities for observing, detecting and responding to threats and anomalies, according to the vendor.

Databricks has announced a $1 billion investment. The Series G funding, led by new investor Franklin Templeton, puts Databricks at a $28 billion post-money valuation.

Varada, the data lake query acceleration provider, announced it has open-sourced its Workload Analyzer for Presto, including both Trino (formerly known as PrestoSQL) and PrestoDB, making the source code available to everyone via Github. Cognyte will begin "regular way" trading on the NASDAQ on February 2, 2021 under the symbol "CGNT."
