Barracuda Expands Data Protection Solutions with Replication to AWS

Barracuda Networks, a provider of cloud-enabled security and data protection solutions, has added the ability to replicate data from either an on-premises physical or virtual backup appliance to AWS. The new feature provides customers, resellers, and MSPs with greater flexibility and choice to protect their data from data loss and potential disasters, including security threats like ransomware. This adds an additional option for customers, in addition to the ability to replicate to the Barracuda Cloud.

"Efficient data protection, in the cloud or on-premises, includes a strategy to rapidly recover data in the event of data loss or disaster, as well as the many security practices involved in preventing unauthorized access. As a security and data protection company committed to the cloud, Barracuda is uniquely positioned to help organizations with these challenges," explained Rod Mathews, senior vice president and general manager, data protection solutions at Barracuda. "Barracuda's current replication technology allows organizations to securely and efficiently send data to the Barracuda Cloud or another backup appliance with minimal configuration. The new release gives customers and resellers adopting public cloud the flexibility to replicate data to AWS with the same simplicity.”

Barracuda Backup is an integrated end-to-end solution that enables organizations to replicate to their own AWS Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket – giving them the ability to choose where their data resides while also giving them control over their replicated backup data. Barracuda deploys infrastructure in AWS to provide an end-to-end solution to customers.

According to the vendor, Barracuda Backup does not require users to deploy compute resources in AWS to enable the replication process, and it does not require that users become AWS infrastructure experts in order to install and configure replication and restore capabilities. Resellers and customers who have a basic understanding of AWS infrastructure will be able to set up replication, and no cloud-side tuning will be required on the part of the customer. Users who are familiar with Barracuda solutions will find the same Barracuda Cloud Control administration console.

Barracuda is an AWS Advanced Technology Partner and offers firewall solutions in AWS, including Barracuda's Web Application Firewall that has been pre-approved and certified with the AWS APN Competency Certification.

Barracuda Backup replication to AWS is available in North America, with worldwide deployment expected to be rolled out in the coming months. For more information, go to http://cuda.co/backup.
