Astera Software, a developer of data integration solutions for small and large enterprises, has introduced a new alliance partner program that offers customers complete solutions to their complex data issues. Clustrix, provider of a scale-out SQL database engineered for the cloud, has been granted two new patents for systems and methods for redistributing and slicing data in relational databases from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. "For years, people have been trying to figure out how to take a relational database and make sure that you can use it across multiple distributed servers and get linear, better performance and that is at essence of what these patents do," said Robin Purohit, CEO, Clustrix in an interview.
Sepaton, Inc., a provider of backup and recovery platforms, today unveiled a new data protection solution called Sepaton VirtuoSO that is intended to address the challenges organizations are facing due to the exponential growth of both structured and unstructured information. According to the vendor, the scale-out NAS-based data protection solution provides five times the capacity of competitive solutions at initial release with up to 22 times the capacity planned for future releases.
SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software, has acquired Confio Software, which provides database performance management software. The Boulder, Colorado-based software company was purchased for $103 million in cash. Confio's flagship product, Confio Ignite, improves software development and service delivery for systems based on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, and SAP Sybase databases, running on VMware virtual servers as well as physical servers.
TIBCO Software introduced the latest version of its data discovery and visualization platform, TIBCO Spotfire 6.0, which includes enhancements and new products that offer greater automation, better contextualization, and expanded deployment opportunities.
