MultiValue (MV) applications have a long history of successfully automating critical processes in both large and small companies worldwide. Now, after almost 40 years the technologies which underpin these solutions no longer provide the advantages they once did. The creation of new MV applications has virtually ceased and existing applications are rapidly being retired or moved to other technologies. As CIO/CTO’s contemplate the modernization of over 100,000 of these applications they are often confronted with common assertions as to the power of MV and why it would be difficult or impossible to move to other more modern tools and databases.
