EnterpriseDB, a provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and database compatibility solutions, has released a new Postgres extension to connect MySQL and Postgres databases, giving end users the ability to get more value from their data by combining systems for a single view.

IBM is bringing a greater level of control, security and flexibility to cloud-based application development and delivery with a single-tenant version of Bluemix, the company's platform-as-a-service. The new platform allows developers to build applications around their most sensitive data and deploy them in a dedicated cloud environment while avoiding the compliance, regulatory and performance issues that are presented with public clouds.

As big data continues to explode, companies are exploring how they can leverage it for competitive advantage - to help them prepare for emerging trends within their industries, perform advanced analytics of data to help increase revenue and optimize processes or avoid potential pitfalls.
