CA, Inc. announced it has completed its acquisition of privately-held Nimsoft, Inc., a provider of IT performance and availability monitoring solutions for emerging enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs).

Data Strategies International, a provider of data migration services, says it has teamed up with Micro Focus, a provider of application modernization tools, to better enable moving data from mainframe-based physical tape libraries to cloud-based environments.

Intel Corporation launched a new upgraded processor series designed to combine new security, performance and energy efficiency features. Intel's Xeon Processor 5600 series. The new processors are intended to deliver two new security features — Intel Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions (Intel AES-NI), and Intel Trusted Execution Technology (Intel TXT), which enable faster encryption and decryption performance for more secure transactions and virtualized environments.

OpenTech Systems, Inc., a provider of z/OS disaster recovery and tape data migration solutions for IBM z/OS data centers, has introduced CopyExport Manager for IBM's TS7740.

Rocket Software announced the availability of an application integration tool to help organizations SOA-enable their existing applications and data. The new release, LegaSuite Integration 5.2, provides a single application integration software tool to enable IT organizations to create web services from existing applications and data on mainframe, IBM i, OpenVMS and Windows client/server platforms.

SpringSource, a division of VMware, Inc. and vendor in Java application infrastructure and management, has launched a platform based on the Apache Tomcat server, intended to provide higher levels of productivity, operational control and deployment flexibility for customers building and deploying Spring applications. The new product, SpringSource tc Server Spring Edition, is intended to provide developers and operators with faster development and insight into the performance and health of their Spring applications. Additionally, the lightweight footprint of tc Server helps ensure greater resource utilization across virtual and cloud environments.
