News Flashes

InterSystems Corporation has announced the addition of innovative technology features to its Ensemble rapid integration and development platform. Available now, the new capabilities target critical requirements of large-scale enterprises that are building high-performance, complex applications in SOA environments. John Joseph, director of product management at InterSystems, tells 5 Minute Briefing that "more complex environments drive more feature needs; the number of interfaces, messages and data volumes are all increasing, and the pieces of systems needing to be connected are getting bigger and more complex. Also, web services and SOA are gaining steam, and so many of the enhancements in this latest release of Ensemble are intended to address these challenges."

Panorama Software, a global leader in proactive business intelligence solutions and the company that sold its OLAP technology to Microsoft, has announced that its BI product, NovaView, is immediately available as a long-term BI solution for Microsoft PerformancePoint Server and ProClarity customers affected by Microsoft's recent discontinuation announcement regarding those products.

Sonasoft Corporation, an independent software vendor that provides compliance, disaster recovery, and data protection solutions for the Microsoft platform, has announced the release of disaster recovery capability for its email archiving solution, SonaSafe for Email Archiving. SonaSafe for Email Archiving meets the regulatory compliance and e-discovery needs of organizations by capturing all incoming, outgoing, and internal emails and storing them in archive databases that run on Microsoft SQL Server. The product that provides the disaster recovery protection for these archives is SonaSafe for SQL Server, which creates live backups of SQL Server databases. By combining both of these products, SonaSoft provides disaster recovery protection for email archive servers through a common platform.

Syncsort, a global leader in data integration, has announced the release of DMExpress 5.0, the latest version of its ETL data integration product for data warehousing, business intelligence, and other mission-critical applications. The new release combines functional enhancements and new platform support with ease of use, allowing customers to transform and aggregate even larger volumes of data from multiple, heterogeneous sources faster and at a lower total cost of ownership.

Think About It

IBM announced yesterday results from its annual 2008 "X-Force Trend and Risk" report, which found that corporations are unwittingly putting their own customers at risk for cybercriminal activity. With an alarming increase in attacks using legitimate business sites as launching pads for attacks against consumers, cybercriminals are literally turning businesses against their own customers in the ongoing effort to steal consumers' personal data, the study reveals.
