Clerity Solutions, Inc. has signed an agreement under which HP will sell Clerity's UniKix mainframe rehosting software.

Clerity's UniKix technology provides a mission-critical environment for deploying online and batch mainframe applications such as CICS, IMS, IDMS, Adabas, Natural, and other legacy assets on open systems. Under the terms of the agreement, the UniKix mainframe rehosting software suite will also be available through HP's network of distributors and resellers.

"HP has taken a leadership position over the last few years in offering choice and solutions for clients who are considering moving workloads off the mainframe for the primary purpose of cost abatement and lowering their overall total cost of ownership," Cameron Jenkins, COO of Clerity, tells 5 Minute Briefing.

Clerity is an HP Developer & Solution Partner and regularly teams with HP to deliver infrastructure and mainframe migration services. "It was the right time for them to step up and, in addition to being the leader in selling these opportunities from a services as well as hardware perspective, sell the software elements that were involved," says Jenkins. Under the terms of the agreement, the UniKix mainframe rehosting software suite will also be available through HP's network of distributors and resellers. "Our core technology, UniKix, is the leading rehosting software in the world I believe, certainly by volume of customers. We decided to allow them to incorporate that into their overall offering so they could give a total solution to their customers."

Key areas of the UniKix mainframe rehosting software suite include UniKix Transaction Processing Environment (TPE) software-a native transaction processing system for online CICS, IMS TM, IDMS DC, Natural and related resources such as VSAM data file types; UniKix Batch Processing Environment (BPE) software-a complete environment for administering, executing, and managing z/OS and z/VSE batch JCL workloads on open systems without excessive code change or complex integration; UniKix Manager software-a real-time performance monitor for UniKix TPE environments that provides information for determining system status, processing rates, potential bottlenecks, and configuration enhancements that can aid in ensuring performance levels and critical user response times; and UniKix Secure software-a comprehensive role-based access control external security manager for UniKix TPE that enables authentication and resource-level security on open systems, similar to RACF for CICS.
