An Enterprise Response to 'Bring Your Own Device'

The so-called "BYOD" (Bring Your Own Device) movement is creating new headaches - and opportunities - for data center managers. Estimates are that more than one-fifth of the workforce is now mobile, and everyone - mobile or not - is bringing smartphones and tablet computers into the workplace. IBM has been responding to this wave, as seen in its recent acquisition of Worklight - which supports enterprise mobile application development - and the release of IBM Endpoint Manager for Mobile Devices, intended to help organizations support and protect the growing mobile workforce. Any and all devices used to do company work or handle company data need the same security and management policies as any PC or terminal.
