IBM's John Lamb, author of "The Greening of IT," says there are lots of opportunities to make data centers greener. There's energy savings that come from server consolidation. In addition, data centers need to be technically more integrated with the businesses they serve. For example, waste heat can be rechanneled into the rest of a facility.
