IT Spending Prospects More Bullish in 2010, But ROI Rules
Posted Nov 16, 2009 - November 16, 2009 Issue Print Version     Page 1of 1

Our friends at MicroFocus just shared some of the findings of their latest survey with us that show many IT departments are planning to to staff up and increase spending again, as businesses recognize the intrinsic value of IT for the coming expansion phase. For example, 42% intend to increase IT staff over the coming year, twice as many that intend to cut staff. Last year, 35% cut staff. About 39% delayed or scaled back projects over the past year, but only two percent terminated any projects outright. Respondents agree that IT will be fundamental in helping to pursue long-term growth opportunities as well as near-term cost savings. However, there will be strict ROI analysis applied to all expenditures-64% say the time required to earn positive ROI will weigh heavily on IT investment decisions.
